Life -- it's happening right now

It's presently occurring. There'll be no "take two."

Sometimes I get in the mindset that "once things settle down in my life and I can get my feet on the ground a bit more, then 1.) my relationship with God will be far more vibrant, or 2.) I will really start to get very vocal about my faith to co-workers, or 3.) my character will improve in spades, or 4.) I can start concentrating on certain other things" or something along those lines. Only problem with this thinking is that, first of all, I can't bank on the future, far less so a pat and comfortable future. God never promised me tomorrow. Additionally, He never promised me clear sailing while here on earth.

There was a good point I was going to make and I completely forgot it. How about you guys? Have any good points you can make with the start of my post?

Today is the last and only October 18, 2006 we're ever going to get. How have we spent it?

"But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called 'today,' that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin."

I've spent the whole day in bed wondering why God would stricken me to a bed when I have so much to do.

Which was stupid because then *bam*... "But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?" ... "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." (Matt 6:30-34)

The big thing that I need to preach to myself all the time is to try to see things as divine appointments rather than inconveniences. Easy to say, hard to do.

Lyndon - that whole homework thing...totally understand. (And good luck on the midterm...like we really believe in luck...)

Joey - ditto on that one. And the photographer of the smashing picture was a lovely lady I know...by the way I met Drew last night. Ha-ha. ;)

Micah - exactly.

Good post, I'm afraid too many of us can relate. =( Like "Oh, I'll put off studying scripture so I can defend the faith well against unbelievers until I've got more time." Or "I'll put off sharing the gospel with my cousin in prison until I'm not so busy." (how long have I put that off now?)

By the way, I like your's and Joanna's pictures. Haha, girls are weird. ;)

Oh, Hibby !!!
Thank God for you. I'm not kidding....seriously...I was just talking to a few of my co-workers and before reading your blog I had just said "I need to live more for today" they agreed that the happiest people are people who live for today....and my heart is like - YEAH - what matters TODAY!!??

Jesus and our relationship to him alone. As Ozzie has said "be carefully careless about everything but this one thing"

So, yeah, we need to redeem the time...and make the best use of it since the days are evil!

Thanking God for you today....hmmm.......I did that yesterday too.....wonder if God's like "I know, I know...." with a smile on His face ??

hehe.....

OH - and Armchair's real name is what?? Lyndon ?

Always remember - that you're unique - just like everyone else.

Oh, and you like the "series?" Yeah, we tried to talk Frank into getting a shot with....a Queen Elizabeth book, but he wouldn't comply. Next time... ;)

Daasy. Ha, man, I love you, sister! Hrrrruummmmmmff on that sentiment of God smiling, "I know, I know..."

Jennifer and Frank,

Yeah, I'm from Vancouver, USA. . . what're you guys planning to do in this part of the world? I mean sure the rain makes the area nice and green, it's a hiking snob's paradise and we've got quality coffee shops on every single corner of every single street, but what brings you Minnisotans out this way?

Haha, Frank you wouldn't pose while doing a "kissy face" next to a Queen Elizabeth book eh? ;)

I'm not a book-kisser, but I have been really excited to receive certain books. So much so, that...here goes:

Hello. My name is Craver, and I hug books.
(Everybody: Hello, Craver.)

Boy, it feels so good to find a community that understands. I think I'm getting a little misty-eyed.

Oh, and if you youngsters think time moves fast now...

Yeah. ONE of my "real names" is 'Lyndon'. I started my blog anonymously simply because it was supposed to be a place to talk about some of the stuff that I wasn't allowed to talk about at church, but then I ended up doing all my counselling at Dairy Queen and not blogging about it. HA! Is your "real name" Jen2? If so, were your parents hippies?

And what's with the book kissing? You two ladies love Luther and Calvin so much you're going to kiss them and marry them? HA HA! That's kinda funny...and kinda HARDCORE BIBLE GEEK! HA!

(Which I appreciate...I was at USC bible study the other night and sat down to talk to a friend of mine who looked at me serious and asked me "Hey, can you explain the apocaliptic and parabolic imagery of a 'bride' in the Bible?" and 2 hours later, and after another 6 people sat down, and the other 35 were subtlely listening in, we went home. I'm got made fun of like 17 times today for being a "rebel" and starting a second small group for asking questions that nobody understands. HA! I'm also the president and co-founder of the BEST Bible Geek Club in the freaking world, the MJPFC - Moose Jaw Phattie Fat Club...AWE SHIBBOLETH!!)

No, seriously, Lyndo-Man. Hilarious.

Yes, I'm kissing Luther, because I'm going to need to marry a hard-headed German. Ha, you think I'm kidding.

And you betta believe we're hardcore Bible geeks! (It is jammin'.)

Loved the sub-level small group story - that's sure to be a classic. Though, I'm going to need more deets on this MJPFC...yeah.

"AWE SHIBBOLETH!!!" - that gets Quote of the Year. Props to Armchair and Craver for a combined effort.

And Craver...um...well, this is...better just get it over with...

Hi; my name is Yen, and I hug books.

I'm right there with ya, bud.

Frank - it's going to happen. One of these days, you won't be able to resist...

HA HA!

Moose Jaw Phattie Fat Club.

It's the club of kids who worked at Joe's Place (youth drop in center in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan - check it out on google earth...not that it will help or anyting) where I ran the volunteer staff for a few years.

It was the kids who loved to feast on the word AND on the grill. We had Bi-ble-Que parties. Bible studies and steak...aka a MEATFEST!

MEAT FEST!

HUTZA HUTAZA HUTZA!

M-M-M-MEATFEST!

So yeah. It was a crazy-go-nuts group of guys who worked with me at the drop in center who I taught about the Lord and marinade. We were all phatties (pretty hot and tempting) and fat (in the Lord...having "kavod" - glorious...although it wouldn't have hurt any of us to hit the gym...LOL). The Phattie Fat Club.

It's quite possible that there needs to be a NEW SoCalPFC down here, as well as possibly a MPFC? Hmmm?
