I am most pleased to meet you Lady Agnew of Locknew. You may refer to me as Sir Benjamin of Oetken
And I'm Ted Theodore Logan, and together we're
WYLD STALLYNS!
EXCELLENT!
is that you?
Hilarious ~
That's not a fainting couch though!
Hokey Pete......
Let's get you some help friend :)
Noble Gentlemen and Ladies of the Court ~
Sir Ben of Oetken - pleased at the aquaintance.
Ted Theodore Logan - you and your curious phrases...excellent indeed...I'm sure. Though, one can't be too certain..hm, clarification?
Lady JoAnna - I entertained the thought that she rather looked like me in some regards, but alas, no; 'tis not a portrait of me.
Mr. Daasy (just kidding, haha) - there is no harm in being a romantic...bring out the smelling salts! :) And as far as the state of the furnishings captured in this painting, though it be not a fainting couch, on a whole, the painting still elicits a feeling of feminine graces and elegant poise. Woot?
Very nice painting. Do we know who the artist is?
Artist: John Singer Sargent
I'll give it a woot!
And, my dear, you have now belied your age. Have you never been introduced to the WYLD world of "Bill & Ted"? Their "Excellent Adventure" and "Bogus Journey" paid homage to the surfer dudes/aspiring heavy metal musicians (ahem...WYLD STALLYNS) during the late 80s/early 90s. Think phrases like "totally awesome" and "radical, dude". Where would we be today without Bill & Ted? Probably smarter.
My favorite quote from those movies was probably the one rapped by the Grim Reaper: "You might be a king or a little street sweeper, but sooner or later you dance with the reaper."
Hmm. Heinous.
Heidi. I was homeschooled. Need I say more?
Ha-ha, just kidding. But no, to be quite honest, I have not been introduced to the wonderful world of Bill and Ted. I think that may be the reason I can use words like "perspicacious" and get away with it. ;)
OOOH! And the points are now being tallied...we're waiting on the Russian judge...
...and Heidi scores a MASSIVE point for the "ku kids" club! YES!
Jen still is in the lead thanks to some good comments regarding the "80's television" category, but Heidi slaps back with a most excellent performance in the "80's movies" category!
Stay tuned for more veiled and overt reference to 80's culture/culture club!
Good quote from the Reaper Heidi.
My favorite is in the first Bill and Ted when Ted tells Bill that his mom is hot and then recalls when he asked Bill's mom to the prom. CLASSIC.
Blink, blink.
Wo0t.
(Heidi, you're going down...!)
Wow, I didn't even know I was shooting for points! Does it help if my favorite A-Team guy was not the mostly popular Mr. T, but Murdock?
Other faves:
Diff'rent Strokes ("What you talkin' bout, Willis?")
Knight Rider (who didn't want a Kit?)
Hardcastle & McCormick
The Facts of Life (did you know "Blair" has written books on homeschooling? Way cool...)
Growing Pains (who knew the guy that EVERY girl had a crush on, Kirk Cameron, would grow up to become Ray Comfort's sidekick?)
The Muppet Show (loved "Muppet Babies," too, but who remembers when Lynda Carter and Kermit sang "Flash, Bam, Alakazam"...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4iDrtbeCQg)
This post illustrates why I felt the need to give up television in high school. Some call it....addiction?
Anyway, good for a trip down memory lane. And at least half a MASSIVE point? AT?
Good form Heidi! But what about some of the other classic 80's folks/shows:
1. Punky Brewster?
2. Gordon Shumway? (aka. "Alf")
3. Balki Bartokomous?
4. The Fall Guy?
5. Simon and Simon?
6. Degrassi Junior High?
7. Vanna White?
8. Automan?
9. Bill Cosby?
10. The DUKE BOYS?
11. Family Ties? (Remeber when Michael J. Fox was the MAN?)
12. THe Greatest American Hero (my personal favorite)
13. The Loveboat?
14. Lawrence Welk?
15. Rick Schroeder (I still remember the lyrics to the theme song of "Silver Spoons")
16. Shazaam (The original, not the Shaq version!)
17. The Superfriends (Jayna and Zan are still the most coolest! If ever I get married, my wife and I will be the wonder twins for halloween!)
18. Webster?
19. Amazing Stories? (Now THAT is a classic show!)
20. Mork and Mindy? (Nanu! Nanu!)
21. 21 Jump Street?
Lord knows, I STILL want to be able to play guitar like Micheal J. Fox, I want a wife like Claire Huxtable, I want to be as cool as the Fonz, I want to drive Knight Rider. (Condorman's car would also be acceptable), and I often describe someone as "White and smells like Cheezeburgers" (Like on "Remo Williams") I also sometimes yell "WOLVERINES!" when I do something crazy, but usually only I get that joke.
I kinda watched too much TV in the 80's too...but I stopped getting cable in 2002 and I sold my TV this past summer. I'm slowly getting off the cable narcotics myself! HA!
Yen, I think AT has us both sorely beat...
I hadn't even HEARD of a show called "Automan."
Duuuuuuude. Both you guys - that was awesome.
Heidi, if I may be so annoying as to split hairs...I believe it was "KITT" (as in Knight Industries Two Thousand). Meh, just throwing' that out there.
But Heidi, that's fabulous...that's why you can car-dance with Daasy and me when we yell "muppets dance!" Man, how did we all get so cool?! :)
So, I'm a little surprised Charles in Charge didn't make either of your lists...
And does Mathnet ring a bell with anyone? (I just remember loving that show...) And did either of you watch Welcome Back, Kotter ever?
Can we go "off-topic" and divert our attention (for a short period of time) from shows of the 80s, to old classics. Such as Get Smart, I Dream of Jeannie, Batman, Dick Van Dick...ok, thank you.
(Greetings from Melmac, by the way.)
Go here:

Automan was the first and last show of Desi Arnaz Jr, son to Lucy and Desi Arnaz (from "I Love Lucy" fame!)
ANd Jenn gets one up on the board for knowing that Micheal Knight's car was K.I.T.T. Good form lass!
Charles in Charge? Yes, I didn't mention it, but I also neglected around 25 other shows. No worries...no list is completely 100% comprehensive (except one. Know which one THAT is?)
As for old shows, I don't have too many favorites. Get smart was a classic, as was Batman. Anyway, I've pretty much milked the 80's TV show thing to death. What now?
Oh, and one more: Jem and the Holograms...but I NEVER watched an episode, nor did I aquire season 1 and 2 and hide it so that nobody would ever see that I had it...which I don't. I admit to nothing.
But I've been told by people who used to watch it that it was a cool show.
Okay, but with one minor change. How about I call you "Lady Jennifer Hibst" or "Friherrinna Hibst"?
